What We Do

Created to advance career aspirations and insights among youth.

Our mission is to grow a positive self-image for youth through mentoring by industry professionals and practical hands-on experience.

MENTORING

The Handshake Foundation is committed to serving all young adults who have a passion and drive toward a particular industry. We have assembled top mentors in their field and they are ready to help you achieve your goals.

ARTS ADVOCACY

Our partnership with The Valley Cultural Center, VCC helps negate the harmful cuts in school arts programs that have left youth with little opportunity to experience the joys of creativity and imagination through music, dance, and visual arts.

LITERACY

Our mentoring programs help students have a stronger relationship with school and education.

Who We Are

The Handshake Foundation (THF), is organized as a California non-profit corporation established for the public benefit committed to advancing practical education in arts, industry and amateur sports through the development of life skills through mentoring and supported by on-going educational grants and financial aid.

The mentorship program is sustained by top business and community leaders in various industries who advise, council and give necessary insights to our youth typically not taught in schools, but learned from years of practical life experience. Our mission is to grow a positive self-image for our next generation through practical hands on experience, while promoting and building strong peer-to-peer and peer-to-adult relationships.

Why We Do It

The number of ways mentoring can help a youth are as varied as the people involved in each program. While the lists and statistics can be impressive, personal stories can be even more impressive. It is clear that, youth who participate in mentoring relationships experience a number of positive benefits, including a better relationship with school and education, their parents, and the world around them.

I can’t tell you how much of an impact Mark Heller and the Handshake Foundation have made on the students of our school in such a short time…and they’re just beginning!! They (the kids) are so excited and interested…and THEY are the ones doing all the work! Thanks so much, Mark… and THF !! 🙂

Very exciting program you have planned. What a productive and practical way for kids to get an inside look at what it really takes to succeed and explore the real world and make connections.
